The year also gave us such celebrities as Taylor Lautner, Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson, Kate Upton, Selena Gomez, Damian McGinty from Glee, Josh Hutcherson, who played Peta in hunger Games, and Miley Cyrus.
On the bright side it also gave us these one hit wonders.
10. "Everything Changes" by Kathy Troccoli
It took me a while to even recognize this song, but after I did I remembered how good it was. I feel kinda sorry for her considering she lost both her parents to cancer. She has had a decent career though, she even sang with the Beach Boys.
9. "Love Is on the Way" by Saigon Kick
This is such a great song. Saigon Kick is from Miami. They had so many problems with in the band it's no wonder they were only a one hit wonder.
8. "Would I Lie to You?" by Charles & Eddie
I'll be honest when I first saw this on the list I was doubtful of it because "I had never heard it before" then I listened to it and hung my head since I realized I have heard it before. This is a pretty good and catchy song. The Eddie of Charles & Eddie actually started a band when he was 12 but what interests me is who his band mates were. His bass player was the late great Cliff Burton from my favorite band Metallica and his drummer was Mike Bordin from Faith No More.
7. "Please Don't Go” by K.W.S.
This is yet another one that I didn't know by name. This was actually a remake of a KC and The Sunshine Band song. Also it was said to be released in honor of a soccer player who was on the verge of signing to another team.
6. “I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred
Ok there is no denying this knowing this one. Although I must say I'm kinda tired of it which is why it's so low on the countdown list. In 2007 they put out a new video to this song, which I included, that is much better to watch since instead of featuring they half naked it features three sexy looking models dancing around in bikinis and body paint and Right Said Fred keeps their tight clothes on.. I included both videos to give you the choice of seeing half naked men or half naked women.
5. "How Do You Talk to an Angel" by The Heights
When I saw this song I just had to put it on my list. I will fully admit I had this tape. This was the theme song to a show about a band. Honestly it had some good songs on it, and one of the people who did vocals on the song was also recently on Glee. She plays the mom of Quinn.
4. "Constant Craving" by k.d. lang
This is another song that I happen to like. The video is a recreation of the play Waiting for Godot. This song is quite a good song and I think I've even heard it in commercials.
3. "Jump Around" by House of Pain
I love this song and just can't help moving to it. I love the saxophone squeal, at one point it was rumored to be instead be a sample of Prince screaming. This song is so popular that it's used at many sports venues and has been in many movies.
2. "Life Is a Highway" by Tom Cochrane
This is a great song. I have always liked this song especially the harmonica. Apparently he wrote this song after he took a trip to West Africa to raise money for famine relief. This song was covered by Rascal Flatts for the movie Cars, and I think they did a pretty good job at it too.
Now for the number one 1 hit wonder of 1992. This song is one of the most popular songs of the 90's and is often quoted by people. It is no other than ...
- "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-a-Lot
This song is such an anthem for many guys. It has spawned so many parody songs including an interesting Burger King commercial featuring the creepy King singing about square butts promoting Sponge Bob Square Pants.
Well that does it for '92 look for 1993 to come soon.
Some good songs Dave, keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI plan on it and I'm looking forward to 1993.
